Find an Apprenticeship vacancy using our step by step guide

Apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn and improve your job prospects. At The Sheffield College, we offer Apprenticeships in 13 different sectors all the way from Hospitality to Engineering, giving you plenty of options to find the career that’s best for you.

Interested but not sure where to start? Follow our step-by-step approach to finding the perfect Apprenticeship for you below:

Do your research

Start by researching different industries and find one that interests you. Think about what you enjoy, your current skills, and what challenges you. What are your favourite hobbies or activities? What do you never get tired of talking or learning about? It’s also important that you consider what level of study to begin at. The level of the Apprenticeship is determined by the job role that the Apprentice is in and their prior knowledge and experience. For example, a Higher Apprenticeship would require more responsibility in the job role than either an Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship. Click here to find out more about the levels of study.

Search for a vacancy

Now you’ve found a sector that you are interested in, you can search for a position via our Apprenticeship vacancies page.

This page lists all the current Apprenticeship vacancies we have, and you can apply online for your chosen job. Make sure to take a note of the start date, entry requirements and location.

We work with approximately 900 employers and update our vacancies on a weekly basis, so remember to keep checking back for any new jobs that might have been posted.

Applying

Once you’ve found the right role for you and you’re ready to apply, all you have to do is complete the application form on the vacancy page. It’s that easy!

Applying for an Apprenticeship is exactly the same as applying for any other paid job. Please make sure that you have key information from your CV to hand so that you can input it into the application and always check the start date of the vacancy as Apprenticeships can start at any time during the year.

It’s important to tailor your application to the vacancy by taking the person specification and the training provided into consideration. Tell us why this Apprenticeship interests you and what made you apply for this particular vacancy. What work experience do you have? What were your responsibilities in previous roles?
