Apprentice minimum wage boosted by 21% from April 2024

The UK Treasury announced that Apprentice’s will see their minimum hourly rate rise from £5.28 to £6.40 on the 1st of April 2024.
Since the introduction of the Apprentice Rate in 2010, the rate has gone up faster than any of the other minimum wage rates.
All employers must pay the minimum wage for Apprentices aged 16-18 and for Apprentices aged 19 or over in the first year of their Apprenticeship.
In the UK, Apprenticeships have changed since the introduction of the hourly rate, with an increase in older Apprentices pursuing higher-level qualifications and a wider range of sectors offering Apprenticeships.
Apprenticeships are set to continue to grow as the Government has recently pledged to create 20,000 more Apprenticeships in the UK. They aim to do this by fully fund Apprenticeships for young people in small businesses and remove the current red tape.
