Big Boost to Apprenticeship Pay in April 2025
Published: 4th of November 2024
Good news for anyone thinking about starting an Apprenticeship, from April 2025, the minimum wage for Apprentices is rising from £6.40 to £7.55 an hour!
This 18% increase means more financial support for you as you kick off your career and get hands-on experience. This uplift follows a 21% rise last year and fits with the government's aim to make work-based learning more accessible for more people.
Currently, if you’re 16-18 (or 19+ in your first Apprenticeship year), you’ll get the Apprentice minimum wage. But after that, your pay goes up to match the minimum wage for your age group.
This rise makes Apprenticeships an even better way to learn, earn and set yourself up for the future.
Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner commented, “Our changes will see a pay boost that will help millions of lower earners to cover the essentials as well as providing the biggest increase for 18–20-year-olds on record.”
