Leigh Saxton recently completed her Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship at Rotherham Hospital, where she gained valuable hands-on experience in a field she’s passionate about.
When asked why she chose to do an Apprenticeship with The Sheffield College, Leigh explained:
"The college was chosen by my workplace for this course, and it’s been a great fit. I’ve learned so much that helps in my day-to-day job."
During her Apprenticeship, Leigh developed many skills, including a stronger knowledge of pharmacy legislation, which is essential to her role.
"Learning about the laws that guide our work in pharmacy has deepened my understanding of why we do things a certain way, I also learned about different conditions, treatments, and patient advice, which I know will help me further in my career."
Leigh also praised her Training Assessment Facilitators (TAFs) for their guidance and support.
"I’ve had two TAFs, and both were fantastic. They taught me new skills and were always there to support me, they offered helpful advice throughout the course, and I’m so grateful to both of them."
Looking ahead, Leigh hopes to complete an assessor course so she can support future pharmacy students.
"I’d love to go on to Level 4 in clinical knowledge to build on what I’ve learned. This Apprenticeship has really prepared me for the next step."
Leigh’s story shows how an Apprenticeship can open doors to a rewarding career and equip you with the skills you need to succeed.
