Meet Katie MacKinnon, a Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice at Secure Power. Recently, we have had a chat about her Apprenticeship, experiences with the college and her plans for the future.
Katie chose to study her Apprenticeship programme with The Sheffield College, Apprenticeships+ due to the accessibility of the campuses across the city. Katie highlighted:
“When I applied for the Apprenticeship, I could not drive so I wanted to be able to use public transport easily to get to and from college and around the wider city.”
Throughout her Apprenticeship, she has benefited from the support of her TAFs (Training Assessment Facilitators) and WBAs (Work-Based Assessors), Katie stated:
“My TAF has stayed in contact with me through regular check-ins in person and over email. They have also supported me with any questions I have about my job and my classroom learning.”
She has also expressed huge appreciation for her employer, Secure Power, for supporting her growth and development. Katie mentioned:
“I have developed throughout my Apprenticeship and would say I am a completely different person. My confidence has grown massively, I am more outgoing and feel comfortable in unfamiliar situations.”
Looking ahead, Katie has mentioned:
“I would like to continue to work at Secure Power and explore the options of pursing a Higher Apprenticeship with The Sheffield College.”
Katie’s inspiring journey showcases her dedication and the valuable support she has received from her employer and The Sheffield College, Apprenticeships+.
