Evie is currently completing her Level 3 CIPD Apprenticeship in Human Resources with The Sheffield College. Based at the professional and modern Pennine Five campus, she’s building the skills, confidence, and experience to pursue a rewarding career in HR.
When asked why she chose to study an Apprenticeship with The Sheffield College, Evie explained:
“I chose to study an Apprenticeship with The Sheffield College as they’re a leading education establishment with strong connections to local industries. That gives me the chance to network and learn from experienced professionals. The CIPD course aligned perfectly with my career goals, and I was really impressed by the tailored learning plans and the level of support available.”
Throughout her Apprenticeship, Evie has developed a range of key skills that are already making a difference in her role.
“I’ve gained a strong understanding of HR processes from both my tutor and my colleagues. I’ve also learnt how important good recruitment techniques are in shaping a company’s talent pool. That knowledge has allowed me to get involved in a major recruitment project at work, which will support my end-point assessment and boost my teamwork and networking skills.”
Evie has also seen a big improvement in her communication skills.
“I’ve been able to interact with people from different companies while studying, which has helped me gain insight into how others approach their work. It’s given me great ideas to feed back to my team.”
She credits her college tutor for playing a key role in her development.
“All my tutors have been incredibly supportive. My college tutor is really knowledgeable about HR processes, and I always feel comfortable asking for help or clarification. They provide brilliant feedback on my assignments and show me where I can improve, which has helped strengthen my overall understanding.”
Evie’s Apprenticeship is based within The Sheffield College’s own HR team, where she’s been welcomed and supported by her colleagues.
“My employer has been fantastic. I’ve had the chance to contribute to a number of projects and I always feel like my input is valued. I’ve helped introduce a new HR system that’s made our recruitment and onboarding process more efficient. I know I can approach any member of the team with a question, and they’ll always take the time to help.”
Looking ahead, Evie has her sights set on further professional development.
“Once I complete this Apprenticeship, I’d like to move into full-time work and eventually go on to study the Level 5 CIPD course.”
Reflecting on her experience so far, Evie believes her Apprenticeship has given her a solid foundation for future success.
“My Apprenticeship has absolutely prepared me for the next step. It’s given me real-world experience in the industry I want to work in, and has helped build my confidence. Learning from professionals, both in the workplace and in lessons, has been so valuable. Their advice and experience have really guided me through the programme.”
Evie’s journey is a brilliant example of how an Apprenticeship can help you develop industry-specific knowledge, grow your confidence, and take real steps towards a career you love.
