Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with Daisy Russell, a Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice, to talk about her experiences and the skills she’s developed.
When asked why she chose to do an Apprenticeship at The Sheffield College, Daisy explained, “I chose to study an Apprenticeship as I believe it is a great way to gain new skills. Studying at The Sheffield College has allowed me to make new friends from different areas and also allows me to see what it's like studying at a college.”
Throughout her Apprenticeship, Daisy developed a variety of skills, but one stands out. “I have gained a lot of confidence and knowledge in a variety of subjects at work and college. I believe the most important skill I have developed is teamwork as I have experienced working in many different teams.”
Daisy has praised her Training Assessment Facilitator (TAF), Lucy, who has constantly supported her. “My TAF, Lucy, has been very supportive. She is always quick at responding to emails, offering help and advice. She has put on many workshops for opportunities to ask questions and gain feedback.”
Daisy also feels well-supported by her employer, particularly in gaining valuable experience. “My employer has made sure that while studying at the hospital, I get as much experience as I can. She always makes me feel comfortable and reminds me I am doing a good job.”
One of the areas of her Apprenticeship that Daisy has found particularly helpful is the balance between working from home and attending college. “I have found the balance between working from home and going to college very helpful.”
As for the future, Daisy is currently exploring her options. “I am currently in the process of deciding if I want to go to university to be a primary school teacher.” Regardless of her decision, she feels well-prepared for whatever comes next. “I fully believe my Apprenticeship has helped me gain many life skills to help me progress myself in the world of work.”
Daisy’s story is one of growth, support and the exciting possibilities that come with completing an Apprenticeship. We’re excited to see where her journey takes her next!
