Curtis McWilliams
Sustainability Champion Award
Here's why Curtis was nominated by his tutor:
"During a recent premises change at work, Curtis helped the pharmacy team to move and reuse old furniture onto the new site. Following this, the pharmacy also changed their patient medication records (PMR) to a new system, which helped to eliminate the use of paper prescriptions (with the exception of paper requirements for controlled drugs), and switch to electronic prescriptions instead. As part of this, some staff found it hard to switch from processes they had been using for over a decade to the new TITAN system.
Curtis has played an active role in supporting these colleagues who have felt less comfortable with newer computer systems. The support he has provided, during his day-to-day activities has helped to improve staff efficiency, confidence, and reduce risks. This is also in-line with the NHS long term plan for implementing Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA), aimed at improving patient safety, increasing efficiency and transitioning away from paper-based systems."
