Chief Executive and Principal welcomes students for the new academic year

Published: 15th September 2020

Welcome to The Sheffield College and the start of the new academic year 2020/21.

Whether you are a new student starting with us or returning to the next year or level of your course, thank you for choosing The Sheffield College.

During the next year, whatever your starting point, we will help you go further to achieve your goals and progress your career ambitions.

With the ongoing coronavirus situation, your safety is our number one priority.

Every step is being taken to ensure that our campuses are as safe as possible, based on a thorough college-wide risk assessment.

We’ll need your support to keep our campuses safe and ask that you act responsibly at all times.

Please watch our 'welcome back' video to find out more.

Please continue to follow official advice and watch our safety video.

As we have previously communicated, there are some changes that we have made to help keep our students, staff and wider community safe.

Safety measures include organising a blended learning approach with students having some teaching on campus as well as remotely online.

Teaching timetables have been organised to minimise the number of people who need to be on campus at any one time.

All of our programmes will have some lessons on college campuses, to ensure that you have met your teachers and the other students in your group and to help you feel part of our vibrant college community.

Social distancing measures, one way systems, the wearing of face masks in communal areas, hand sanitiser stations and stepped up cleaning regimes have been introduced.

More details about our safety measures are available on our Coronavirus FAQs: Keeping safe at college website page.

Whilst at college, you will have the opportunity to gain work related skills to support your career ambitions and attend masterclasses from industry experts.

You will be able to join clubs and societies and get involved in enrichment activities such as the Sheffield College Students’ Union.

Please be ready to learn and attend all of your sessions whether they are face-to-face on campus or online.

We want you to enjoy your time with us, get involved in our fantastic diverse college community, do your best and have fun along the way.

If you make the most of your time at the College, we guarantee that you will go further. I hope that you have a great year.

Angela Foulkes, Chief Executive and Principal, The Sheffield College
